Chest of Drawers

Materials

Sapele, Wenge, Brass, Poplar

I had a very important, non-paying client for this Chest of Drawers – my youngest son, as he was graduating from University. This handcrafted chest of drawers built from rich, ribbon-grain Sapele, was designed for a clean and modern aesthetic.

Fine Joinery Throughout: Drawer fronts are joined with hand-cut half-blind dovetails for strength and subtlety, while the backs feature full dovetails.

Frame-and-Panel Sides: Traditional frame-and-panel construction on the sides accommodates seasonal wood movement, ensuring long-term stability while adding classic structure and visual depth.

Wenge & Brass Pulls: Custom rectangular pulls are crafted from dark, lustrous Wenge, each reinforced and visually accented with a brass dowel—a detail that adds both durability and a warm metallic contrast.
